Call on your council members to support meaningful, permanent rent stabilization with vacancy control that applies to all rental units in Montgomery County!

Use the script below as a guide, but feel free to share any personal reasons for why you are making this phone call. Call Councilmembers Fani-Gonzalez, Katz, and Council President Glass, no matter where you live in the County!

"Hi, my name is ______, and I [AM A RENTER/LIVE IN] in [NEIGHBORHOOD]. I’m calling to ask Councilmember [NAME] to support the rent stabilization bill going to the full council on Tuesday.

I'm grateful that a rent cap of 6% moved forward out of committee that includes all types of rental housing, and ask that you support a final bill that makes this rate permanent and includes vacancy control for all rental housing in the County. [I/MY NEIGHBORS] still can't afford 6% rent increases. And I'm worried about what happens if [I/THEY] need to move. The rent cap needs to stay in place for all rental housing, even when a renter leaves. So in the case [I/MY NEIGHBORS] have to move, [I/THEY] can still find a place for a reasonable price because landlords will not be able to raise their prices to whatever they feel like.
