I’m calling to ask Chairman Mendelson to make two very important – but not interchangeable – budget provisions related to inclusion for the most marginalized workers. The first is $160 million for urgent cash assistance to Excluded Workers who have been unable to receive any DC or federal unemployment assistance during the pandemic. The second is to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to undocumented workers so they can have the same benefits as other DC workers with low incomes. I support both these priorities because these workers are a vital part of our economy, and because they should be valued and supported as much as other DC residents.
