Follow Up: MoCo Call in Day for Police Free Schools

Though the Board of Education did not vote against the CEO 2.0 proposal at last night's Board of Education meeting, the powerful stories and youth voices shared throughout this week of action have led the Board of Education to ask serious questions about the school system's relationship with the police department.

This conversation will continue, and we need you to keep joining us. In this student-centered movement, the support from educators, parents, and other community members has been really instrumental in uplifting the perspectives of our MCPS students.

Let’s invest in our students, not arrest them.

People have made dozens of calls already this week; slot your name in below so we can count your calls as part of this movement and then make your calls right away to four key decision-makers about school safety: Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight, Board of Education President Brenda Wolff, County Executive Marc Elrich, and County Council President Gabe Albornoz. Once you sign up to make your calls, use the script below to call all four targets!

When you call:
Use the script below as a guide, but feel free to share any personal reasons for why you are making this phone call. If someone doesn't pick up the phone, please leave a message and move on to the next call on your list.

Script:

“Hi, my name is ____ and I live in [town]. I am disappointed to learn that MCPS is moving forward with the CEO 2.0 model, and I am calling to ask _____ to support real student safety by eliminating the CEO program and instead swiftly hire culturally competent mental health supports and a robust Restorative Justice program in MCPS. Like you, I believe that all students should be safe in Montgomery County Public Schools, regardless of their race, which school they attend, or their academic performance. I really care about this issue because [Your reason goes here] Thank you for taking my call!”

Remember to thank the staff you talk to - they work hard and have fielded a lot of our calls!
